Mud masks are like any other mask. They’re used to detoxify and purify the skin from dirt, toxins, and pollutants that have accumulated. The effect is glowing and radiant skin that speaks for itself.
I believe in the power of using masks for the purpose of detoxification, glow-up, moisturization, and other skin benefits. And unlike before, masks come in a variety of types. One mask that’s got the spotlight is the mud mask.
I have with me the New York Biology Dead Sea Mud Mask that I have tested and for me, it’s one of the best mud mask for face I have tried so far. Sure, I haven’t tried a lot, but this is good stuff. If you want to know my thoughts about it, just keep on reading!
What is a mud mask?
A mud mask is a mask not made of dirty mud. It is a mask that is water-based and has high concentrations of hydrating ingredients. It resembles mud and like clay, they both originate from the earth.
But unlike clay, it’s meant to be hydrating. Clay masks are formulated to be drying, which means they’re best for oily skin. But depending on their formulations, masks can be for anything these days.
Mud masks are ideal for dry to normal skin types while clay masks are ideal for combination to oily skin types. And both are effective in their respective fields.
For All Skin Types
This mask has everyone in mind: dry, normal, combination, oily, and sensitive or irritated skin. Too good to be true? Believe it is.
This mud mask’s main objective is to treat acne and other blemishes. It is highly efficient but safe for everyday use.
Advanced Mineral Blend
Aside from the detoxifying and clarifying Dead Sea mineral mud, this mud mask is also infused with a herbal blend of aloe vera, calendula oil, sunflower seed oil, jojoba oil, all of which have beneficial minerals, and vitamin E.
Pure Mud of the Dead Sea
It aids in efficiently purifying the skin and giving a calming sensation. It has bountiful minerals that help in skin renewal. This mud mask provides a mild exfoliation effect that eliminates dead skin cells, dirt, excess oil, and toxins for a healthy glow.
Reduction in Excess Oil and Pore Size
With cleaning the skin and removing dead skin cells, dirt, excess oil, and toxins, asks are also known for stimulating proper circulation of blood which in turn plumps the face and makes it look alive.
This mud mask is made with superior quality ingredients in an FDA Approved cGMP laboratories. It’s also free from alcohol, parabens or sulfates and is not tested on animals.
Whenever I hear the word “dead sea”, I always associate it with minerals. And it does have them which is awesome.
I was skeptical about the “for all skin types” part but I think it is partly true. It does not irritate my normal skin nor does it do the same with my friend’s oily skin.
For sensitive skin though, I recommend using it with caution. It is derived from the sea after all which means it has salt. Too much alkalinity can damage the skin especially for those with sensitive skin.
You also want to look at the ingredients list and see whether you have an allergy in any of them or not.
As for me, this mud mask works great. I wouldn’t say it’s immaculate, but I would say it’s still great. I don’t have acne to start with, only some couple of whiteheads here and there. And it actually worked on them I was surprised.
See, I wasn’t expecting much on the anti-acne part. I just wanted it to tighten my pores (which it did) and give me an overall radiant and smooth skin after using it, not pull out the gunk that is my white heads.
I only use it twice a week and it’s been working great for me. The light smell also isn’t bothersome to me. My face feels clean but not dry, tight but not irritated, and just glowingly healthy which I love!
1. How often should this mask be used?
It is recommended to use this mask twice per week. Follow the instructions and remember to always apply your moisturizer after.
2. What other ingredients does it have other than dead sea mud?
It also has aloe vera, calendula oil, sunflower seed oil, jojoba oil, vitamin E, and minerals such as magnesium and sodium.
3. How much weight does it have?
It has 250 grams of product.
For my skin type and skin needs, I would say that this has been an effective mask. It didn’t dry me out, caused my skin to oil up, or break me out. The only results it gave me were radiant skin that looks alive and tighter pores.
I’m happy to say that I’m not disappointed with this mask’s performance. Maybe because I wasn’t expecting much, but I’m glad that it does what it says it will do. My skin just feels soft and supple every after application and rinsing.
Is it the best mud mask out there? It’s too early to tell in my opinion. I test a lot of products so I can find the best one for me and so I can share it with you guys too.
But I love the results I’m getting from this mud mask and will be continuing to use it weekly. Would I recommend it? Of course!
