What makes this type of salt so special? Perhaps its color?
Himalayan salt, known for its pink pigment, has been in the bathroom shelves and cabinets of many people other than the kitchen. It has long been replacing the old but beloved sugar scrubs.
In the kitchen, it’s still pretty much the same as Kosher salt or table salt in the taste department. But in skincare, it’s supposed to have amazing benefits when used as a scrub. But how does it compare to other natural scrubs?
To find out, I got myself the M3 Naturals Himalayan Salt Scrub. So, keep on reading about this M3 Naturals Himalayan salt scrub review down below!
A quick fact: Himalayan pink salt is as old as the dinosaurs.
It’s so old, you’ll have a piece of history with you when you have a Himalayan salt.
It was during the Jurassic era that Himalayan salt was formed on the seabeds of ancient Himalayan mountains. Lava covered these sea beds which prevented dirt, pollutants, or toxins from getting into the salts.
Because of this natural protection, this salt is believed to be the purest salt that ever existed.
Presently, most Himalayan salts are collected from the foot of the Himalayan mountains along Pakistan. They are a high-commodity product and have great value.
Himalayan salt is actually quite the same as table salt. It has 97% sodium chloride on average, and it’s the 3% that sets it apart from other salts.
The 3% contains minerals such as potassium, magnesium, iron, and calcium and are accountable for the pink color and particular taste of Himalayan salt.
Himalayan Salt in Skincare
Curious as we are, there’s no denying that we’re always in the search for the next big or better thing. When it comes to scrubs, Himalayan salt scrubs are now the hype compared to sugar scrubs.
I think it all boils down to it being pure and natural that it won’t cause the worst reaction on the skin. Also, anything that’s good to be ingested is also good to be used topically.
With more than 2,500 5-star reviews on Amazon, this product must be really good.
This salt scrub from M3 is formulated to contain skin nourishing and loving ingredients for overall health and radiance.
The Himalayan salt gently exfoliates the skin and removes dead skin cells, dirt, oils, and other things that have collected on the skin. It helps diminish the look of blemishes, scars, and even cellulite, all the while balancing the skin’s pH.
It is formulated with collagen for anti-aging along with stem cells from Malus Domestica Fruit Cell Culture Extract which is also observed to protect the skin’s own stem cells.
Lychee fruit oil, sweet almond oil, jojoba seed oil, and grapeseed oil to help eliminate oily residue on the skin and replace it with the goodness of these oils.
Overall, it promises to deliver luxurious and efficient exfoliation, rejuvenation, repair, and protection to the skin.
I was excited to get this in the mail. When it came, I used it right away in the shower. Yes, I couldn’t help it!
I didn’t expect to smell anything fancy but it did! I was pleasantly surprised. I had to feel it first with my fingers and it was great – not too grainy nor oily.
When I applied it, I would say it felt like salted butter and some even melted off. It felt luxurious and I was spending way more time in the shower than I should, just rubbing the stress and dead skin cells away!
And it works! I felt my skin is clean, smooth, and well moisturized right after rinsing, that I didn’t want to towel off.
I checked to see if I have any scratches or irritation, which, thankfully I had none. Rather, what I saw was a glowing skin that felt really soft and supple.
I can’t tell if the collagen or the stem cells worked, but I’m pretty sure that they have all been washed and rinsed. I honestly don’t think that collagen and the stem cell technology is necessary. I don’t think the pH part works as well because it is alkaline in nature, which means it needs an acid if it were to balance the pH.
But I can tell that the salt worked, as well as the blend of oils that made my skin moisturized, soft, smooth, supple, and glowing!
1. How much does it have?
It has about 340 grams of product.
2. Can it be used on the face?
Yes, but it might be too grainy and might cause micro-tearing.
3. Is it free from parabens, phthalates and sulfites?
Yes, it is.
A good scrub is always great. It helps in removing dead skin cells, dirt, and pollution on the skin. Moreover, it helps reduce stress. We can always go to the spa to get body scrubs, but honestly who’s got time for that when you already had most of your time used up?
Our days can be so tiring and stressful but productive that it shows on our skin. It is normal, don’t get me wrong, but we ought to do something about it right? Having salt scrubs is a great way to clean the skin and this one from M3 has an added benefit of moisturizing the skin.
My skin is more supple every time I use this Himalayan salt scrub but I can say it’s more from the exfoliating action and not from collagen. But I love it anyway because of the effects it gives my skin such as a clean, moisturized, supple, and radiant skin.
